Representing more than 60 years of broadcasting excellence, WRHU Radio Hofstra University’s impressive alumni span leadership and talent positions across the media industry. Your support of the WRHU Radio Fund will help the station continue to serve the community while providing the highest level of pre-professional training for the next generation of broadcasters.
This year WRHU is asking for donations to purchase remote tech gear (such as comrex devices, Mackie boards, broadcast headsets, and portable digital audio recorders) for student journalists to use in the field as they cover local, state, and national stories.
Your gift will ensure that current students will continue to have access to the best possible professional development and experiences as they:
- Produce and distribute all NY Islanders live NHL games to ESPN Radio NYC, Sirius/XM, NHL.com, WRCN FM, and WRHU FM
- Converge audio/radio play-by-play with video to create multi-platform, live game content broadcasts for Hofstra Pride Division 1 athletic teams.
- Produce and broadcast the NBA G-League Long Island Nets home basketball games - serving as engineers for the live game play-by-play / color commentary, on-air sideline reporters and hosts of pre-and post-game shows, provide intermission reports/features, and perform converged media roles for TV/video streaming.
- Produce and perform on-air roles for the New York Riptide, a professional box lacrosse team based in Uniondale, NY.
- Report live to cover breaking stories and travel throughout the country to cover political rallies, special events, and festivals.
