The Honors College Student Emergency Fund

The Honors College Student Emergency Fund provides financial assistance to students experiencing a short-term change in circumstance or hardship in a given semester. Loss of employment, family illness, or other unanticipated event can jeopardize a student’s ability to successfully complete a semester or even their degree.

Over the years, this fund has covered rent shortages, food, diapers and baby food, and sometimes partial tuition bills. Your generous gifts to the Honors College Student Emergency Fund make all the difference for these students. Know too that 100% of the money donated to this fund will be used to assist students in need.

Undergraduate Research Assistant Program at Hofstra

Talk with a student about the impact of a semester spent working side-by-side with faculty mentors on cutting-edge research projects and you’ll hear words like: “eye-opening” and “transformative;” and phrases like “it changed my life.” It doesn’t take but one or two such conversations to convince us that we must do everything possible to continue offering such opportunities every year.

Toward that end, RHC created the new RHC Research Assistant Fund, designed to receive donations from friends and alumni who want to help students experience what it is like to add new knowledge to their field of study.

Ultimately, all we want in life is to know we made a difference. Please consider making a gift to this fund, knowing that 100% of donations are distributed directly to our student researchers.

• $2,000 is all it takes to sponsor one student for a semester!
• $10,000 sponsors 5!

Gifts of any size are welcome as even small donations add up. All gifts are fully tax-deductible.

RHC’s Service Leadership Program

Help support Rabinowitz Honors College’s 5-day Pre-Welcome Week Service Leaders Program. Led by 5 RHC students and supported by RHC Associate Dean Lauren Burignat-Kozol, this program mixes three service days in Hempstead and Uniondale non-profit organizations with learning days and evenings where student leaders engage first-year students in conversations about the proper ways to approach service work including discussions of one’s positionality, taking direction from the communities you aim to serve, and the role of advocacy and social activism. The program includes conversations with community leaders from Hempstead and Uniondale and functions as an incubator, inspiring new students to participate in Rabinowitz Honors College’s existing community outreach programs which include: tutoring at Hempstead High School, homework helping at the Uniondale and Hempstead libraries and volunteering with the Interfaith Nutritional Network (The INN).
