HOFSTRA LAW CLINICS, CENTERS, AND INSTITUTES
Your support will allow us to create new center opportunities, invest in existing clinic initiatives and develop new practicum courses, and invest in existing center and institute initiatives.
Hofstra Law Clinics provide students with a unique educational opportunity. Since our founding, Hofstra Law has been at the forefront of integrating hands-on learning into the traditional law school curriculum.
In a clinic, students represent actual people and work on actual cases. They advocate in court, counsel clients, conduct fact investigations and mediate disputes. Students not only must think like a lawyer, as they are asked to do in most law school classes but also act like a lawyer.
The experience is both deeply challenging and immensely rewarding. Most students who take part in a clinic look upon their participation as the highlight of their legal education, an experience which enables them to approach the practice of law with confidence and sensitivity.

Hofstra Law Centers and Institutes centers of excellence foster research, education, and action on critical issues facing today’s society.
We challenge ourselves, not just to provide experiences of an actual law practice for our students, but to teach them how to learn from those experiences and how to translate the knowledge they have gained in their nonclinical courses into client representation. And we encourage our students to continue this work as they enter the legal profession and throughout their careers.
