Hofstra Law is committed to helping talented, purpose-driven students succeed in and beyond law school. For years, we have worked on improving the way we prepare students for the bar exam, strategizing and implementing various approaches across all years to assist students and improve the first-time bar exam passage rate. There have been small improvements that we’ve continued to build upon and for the Class of 2023, Hofstra Law has seen the highest bar passage rate in a decade.
Through work with bar preparation providers and our own research, the Law School has identified that success on the bar exam requires students to complete 80 percent of their weekly bar preparation course materials.
Recently, the Law School launched a Bar Exam Study Grant, a pilot program that provides students who have demonstrated financial and/or caregiving responsibilities with study grants of up to $2,500 to address their financial obligations so that they can spend time studying during the eight-week period prior to the bar exam. This critical study time is essential for bar passage success.
