The Freedman Institute for the Study of Legal Ethics established the Freedman Social Justice Fellowship Program in 2016. This unique Fellowship was created to train law students throughout their three years to become skilled, thoughtful counselors and leaders who will be effective advocates to promote social justice and the public interest.
The Freedman Social Justice Fellowship Program needs your help. A gift of $1,500 will provide a stipend for one student fellow. $15,000 is needed annually to support ten Freedman fellows and provide them with opportunities to work on Institute program projects during the academic and learn ethical lawyering and make a difference in the community.

About
The Freedman Institute for the Study of Legal Ethics sponsors speakers, conferences, and symposiums on important ethical issues in the law and serves as a center for educational ethics programming and research for students and faculty.
The Fellowship is named in honor of Monroe H. Freedman, one of the profession’s most influential legal scholars who left an indelible mark on Hofstra Law. As the Law School’s second dean from 1973-1977 and as a professor until the time of his death in 2015, Professor Freedman helped to define Hofstra Law and establish our reputation as a place where social justice and ethical lawyering form our backbone.
